the prompt - to reimagine
Since AI has taken increasing appearance in our lives everyday, it is inevitable that we designers as well need to seriously think about how to use AI properly as a tool. This book is a product of the creative combination of Artificial Intelligence and the human hand.
Design process
Inspired by medieval manuscripts and eerie game aesthetics, I want to integrate these two very distinctive styles and create an experimental imagery style. Generative AI (Adobe Firefly) helps me turn this into a reality.. Each spread is a carefully composed artifact — combining fragments of narrative with AI-generated visuals, then edited and collaged in Photoshop to evoke mystery and emotion. Production Concept
The physical production of this 10-page book involved printing on steel plates by laser-cutting to achieve a high-contrast, pixelated aesthetic that reflected the book’s themes. Each sheet was sanded, spray-painted, laser-printed, and manually punched for a custom binding system. The cover was crafted from laser-cut MDF wrapped in leather, with brass screws securing the metal pages. Every material and process choice was intentional, turning the book into a tactile artifact.
rock
ROCK is an avant-garde book that narrates a whimsical first-person story about falling in love with a rock. The project pushes artistic boundaries by producing images with AI technology that combine two seemingly incongruous stylistic elements - glitch art’s chaotic, digital distortion and the intricate elegance of medieval manuscript illumination - then editing them to create a cohesive yet experimental layout throughout each page.
